Default Swimming Pools Inground

Got one?

Serving the purpose as a graduation project for my oldest son from High School, constructing a pond for our property was his choice. Following local codes, as soon as the depth of the water went over 2'0" we were required to get a permit from the township......This has us switch gears and turn the pond into a full blown swimming pool, F the fish!

We've now enjoyed the pool for many years over 20. In all the years I have added heat and had but one repair to a cracked pipe underground (took months to locate) I hired a pro even he couldn't locate the crack in the pipe, I got lucky...

To the point of the post, the pool now has stains, a rusty look. Ou water is hard and high in iron. Does anyone know of an easy cleaner? Safe and not too strong as to damage the diamond brite finish? I would have thought the chlorine would clean it but opening the cover each season seems to show a darker rust color....?

I've worked with the acid before and it can really f u up! Breathing the fumes....I may try to dilute and test it. The waste line in installed, runs deep into our wooded area out back. I'd hate to pour acid back there....?

Water dilutes acid, so if there's enough water mixed with it, should be fine.

FWIW: Might not want to use it full strength on the pool anyway.

My dad used this in the past and it worked really well for the iron stains he had.

Don't count on magic rust removal solutions to get rid of long-standing, deep seated stains...there are some pumice stones that you can try that may (or may not) get the stains out but its muscle-cramping work on large areas...

And, worst case, there are companies that will "recoat" the surface and I think (might be wrong) there are some that use underwater equipment that doesn't even require draining the water.

Hours of scrubbing won't hurt you any.

You could easily lose 80+ pounds.

I sincerely hope this does not go against forum rules (promoting another forum), but much like this place, the people here have been there and seen it all when it comes to pools. You can learn a good deal about water chemistry as well. Best of luck.

Well, it is national masturbation month, so you have to save one arm for that.
