I have a young family member who was an easy going young man from a conservative Christian family. Attended church on his own free will. Was a quiet and respectful guy.

The degree makes all the difference. Get one that prepares him for a career and he won't be taking courses in commie, and he won't have time to hang out with commies.

Both my kids went to State schools to get degrees that placed them in careers. A degree in liberal arts would have turned them into liberal artists.

I agree with this. As an engineering major, I do not recall the professors trying to turn us into commies. Not saying that it wasn't happening elsewhere on campus, but it's kind of hard to bring up inequality when you are teaching Fluid Dynamics.

If my kid came to me and told me that it wanted to major in Philosophy or Art History, I would say fine, but you are doing it completely on your dime.

FD along with other ballbusting courses. That, plus I was required to take an out-of-major course in microeconomics, and was lucky to draw a professor who understood the genius of supply-side.

Guys in my major started using the word "liberal" as a pejorative, pronouncing it as three separate syllables. As in. 'Yeah, she's cute, but lib-er-al as all hell/ brings the package down by five points.' I used that many times in later years.

My friends and I used to go the "Save the Whale" rallies just to try to pick up liberal girls. Figuring if they were stupid enough to be liberals, they would fall for just about any line. And they did! Bang them and then throw them back in the pool and find another. Rinse and repeat. We would all laugh about it while chugging beer later.
