I must be old. I have a bit of tinnitus or maybe more than a bit. That shit would blow my ears and my brains out but I respect it.

If you have time, listen to this guy. Technique is great, not as old as some but still a fantastic guitarist. Its basically an entire solo. Disregard the get up and just enjoy.
There are so many great albums. But, you have to like the music too..

When I was a kid, 70s, I had limited access to music. Heavily influenced by my 5 year older sister. Motown to Led Zeppelin, And various other bands.
But, Black Sabbath, KISS, AC DC ( Back in Black is right up there too), Judas Priest , Iron Maiden were my primary bands. Always looking for something different, and new.
But when Def Leppard produced High N Dry, it just rocked. Just a simple great album, still sounds good to this day..

His rig in that pic:

Arendal speakers
Musical Fidelity
Nordost wires
Turntable I forget the mfr but the damn tone arm upgrade was $5k

My rig: (pic below)
Pass Labs 260.8 mono block amps
Wavelet DSP/Pre-amp
Oppo 105
Sonore Signature Rendu streamer
Legacy Aeris speakers
Nordost wires

Your buddy's setup - what would something like that cost?

Wore that one, and On Through the Night, out. And then Pyromania came around, and suddenly EVERYBODY was a Def Leppard fan.

You have terrible taste in music. I feel bad that you think your ears must bleed to find aural nirvana.

High 'N Dry was a great album. And early awesomeness for its time. Certainly under-appreciated

He's into it for about $100k

Only piece I would change is a massive upgrade to speakers. Those Arendals are solid for their price point but they're a bit small for a full range speaker and freq response is a bit shy on the low end.

I think in room response we only measured in the high 30Hz range.
That and the mids are a bit bright but that's just preference for me.

But the clarity and depth of sound from that turntable blows me away. Something about vinyl that gives a holographic stage to the music that the 1s and 0s of digital, while bit perfect, just loses somewhere.
Too much work for me to chase it though. Digital is clean, clear, and very low distortion and S/N and all that jazz.

I saw Def Leppard when the drummer had two arms. Rocked the shit outta the joint then the scorpions came on and rocked the shit out of it some more. Klaus lost his shit when his mic wasn’t working and a roadie almost died flying across the stage to fix some shit.

That’s how you rock.
