Default Ozempic

I've been on Ozempic for about a year as my A1C was slightly high. Ozempic is mostly a weight loss drug and A1C goes down as weight goes down.
I already lost close to 20 lbs with it (from 235 to 217 lbs). It also helped my Cholesterol as my total cholesterol dropped by 50 points. I never had cholesterol issues but my levels went from normal to ideal since taking Ozempic. I understand that there may be a increased risk of certain cancers but so far, the risk seems minimal. Ozempic suppresses your appetite and you get full much faster. I still eat the same things as I did before but eat smaller amounts and almost completely eliminated snacking as I'm not hungry. So far, I have no side effects from it. Anyone else here on Ozempic? What are your results?

You can accomplish all those good things without any drugs: Stop eating carbs.

The problem with that is that I'm always hungry. It's all the snacking between meals that got my weight up to 246 lbs 2 years ago.. I lost 11 lbs without Ozempic but got stuck around 235 lbs for a while. With Ozempic, I'm losing about 1 - 2 lbs per month. It's so much easier as I don't have a growling stomach all the time. Back around 2015 - 2016, I lost 40 lbs in 10 weeks in a diet competition. Won a total of over $3000 in diet competitions. So, I CAN lose weight without meds BUT the money was the added motivation and I just don't have that motivation without being in a competition.

It's a shot. It's like a pen with a small needle (1/4 inch long).

sugar and carbs are my kryptonite. I've cut out sodas and dont do shots if i go to the bar on weekends. I love orange juice but now drink it as a weekly treat on mondays for breakfast to help monday not suck so bad. I also eat at least twice per day and only when hungry, too.

now I'm down from 170 (fat for me) to 157.

I'm 5'11", so I'm only 2 lbs from not being OBESE anymore and just overweight. (BMI of 29.9 at 215 lbs) I don't have a goal to get to normal weight which would be about 176 lbs for me. No way that I could maintain such low weight. 200 lbs is a more realistic weight that I should be able to maintain.
The nice thing with Ozempic is that I eat the same things as before, just less of it and I rarely snack. I still have Pizza 2 times per week but I only heat half Pizza and not the whole thing. I still have carbs, meat etc. and still enjoy food, just less of it. I usually skip lunch, especially on office days as the food selection at the office cafeteria is not very good.

I lost 35 pounds in the last four years, from 215 to 180, waist from 36 to 34.
Key is no sweets, watch the carbs, try to walk 20+ miles/week.
Obsessing over it is bad, just eliminate what is wrong, and allow yourself maybe one or two cheat meals a week.
Some people take pills, I understand why, but a disciplined lifestyle allows you to accomplish your goals without a long-term commitment to pills with side effects and unknown consequences.

Stay away from fast food, if you must no fries, do not eat bun, go with water or unsweet tea.

Never take a cheat if you did not do your cardio that day.

Lift some weights, I do 5-6 nights/week in my garage, if you have to drive to a gym most never get there after a long day at work.

When you go grocery shopping, you dictate your meals, buy healthy foods, the reward is a happier, healthier, longer life.

Above is simple, gets simpler when you do it daily, after a few months it is your norm.

Again, okay to cheat, not often, as no one is perfect, I enjoy a few slices of pizza and a coke, when done I hit the weights in the garage for 45 minutes and / or take Dolly on a 3-mile walk.

Good luck!!

Unfortunately once you stop the injections, you’ll immediately start gaining weight. A large majority gain most, if not all or more, of their weight back as they haven’t changed any habits. Work on better habits so when you stop, you won’t regress.

I dropped 45 pounds last year. No drugs just cutting back on fat and carb intake. Down to 180 and want to drop 15 more and I'll be happy

This. I dropped 100 pounds and lowered my A1C from 10 to 5.7 just by cutting empty carbs from my diet.

my doc told me to cut out pasta. I was raised in Italy and had to question his credentials after being told to do that.

Sage!!
I view all are best served when you realize prescription drugs for some conditions are temporary, and your good habits will eliminate a long commitment.

The problem I see with those who take a drug for condition is they think the drug is the only factor, they blame the drug for poor health, they say they need a 'new' drug because the old one is not doing its job.
Same person does nothing to change their lifestyle, which is the biggest factor.

The greatest influence on your health are ALL the things you do daily.
Blaming the drugs, and the doctor, is weak, lessens the quality of life, ends your life sooner.

Pasta is my weakness and when I cheat it's usually some pasta in meat sauce. The problem is that it's an empty carb like bread and metabolizes into sugar in the system. Sucks.

If you go strict Keto, or better yet, carnivore, you won't want to snack. You can stuff yourself until you're satiated and you will stay full for hours, you will not get the munchies.

The old "calories in, calories out" is a myth and was never true. It's not the calories, nor how much you eat, it's what you eat. Cattle's natural food is grass, but if you want to fatten them up for slaughter, feed them carbs (grain) for a couple of months.

Everyone's metabolism can be different -- some people can tolerate a lot of carbs, some people can't -- but excess carbs are the cause of unwanted weight gain and diabetes in humans. "Metabolic syndrome" covers that and heart problems, stroke, arterial plaque, and more.

And Keto/carnivore meals are much healthier overall to boot, and you don't have to force yourself to stop eating like with other diets.

So did you go on it for weight loss or for your A1c? Are you a type 2 diabetic? It's very unusual for doctors to start with Ozempic for type 2 diabetes especially for a "slightly" high A1C.

No way I'm cutting out pasta. I had leftover Dan Dan Mian for breakfast yesterday. I think it was better leftover than when we had it for dinner.
