Never been a member of AAA. And if there was a problem with a tire, I just want to be able to drive it home or to a garage instead of dicking around and waiting for somebody.

Great inventions: Sliced bread, caller ID, intermittent wipers, climate control in cars, online banking, and RF tires!

Got a set of tire sensors coming from eBay: New OEM, $54 for four.

Imma having Van Bortel Corvette do the tires, sensors, and alignment on June 14. They will have the Michelin A/S there for close to Tirerack's price.

Bruze:

DON’T get run flats. Don’t.

I agonized over this decision. I got non run flats for my 05.

I NEVER looked back. The comfort, quiet and everything else was, as I suspected, worth the idea of having to deal with a flat tire out in the middle of nowhere.

And I never got a flat. Just like everyone else that made the same decision. Trust me.

Get a portable compressor (the knocker kind that plugs into your lighter) and a plug kit. And forget about it and enjoy your new ride.

I been riding with RFs for ten years now. I don't see any negatives.

Nothing wrong with RF's. Best choice Mich although they are not cheap.
Enjoy

I just went back to run flats and replaced my General G-Max RS Extreme Performance Summer tires with new Bridgestone Potenza SOO7 RFT tires. I like them so far. Had Michelin Pilot Sport ZP tires before the Generals.

For just normal "old-man" street driving, I see no negatives with RFs and of course there's the one big positive.

Got the new tires on yesterday. My car buddy suggested getting the TPS off of eBay as they're much cheaper and he, nor his son, have never had any problem doing that. So I did, they were advertised as OEMs, four for $54.

I looked all over the tiny engraving on them, didn't see "GM" or "Delco" or anything so not sure what I got.

The dealer said they had a little trouble getting them programmed, but they got them set okay. About 10 miles from the dealer the icon came on, said to check the system. Checking each tire I get an "XX".

I will have my buddy try to program them, will that possibly fix them, or will I end up having to buy new GM ones? Or just put a piece of electrical tape over the icon and ignore it? I didn't have any TPM system the first 47 years of my driving life and seemed to manage okay.
