IMO something like this just under the valence would look much better than the turned down pipes. Link

There are lots of similar options.

Why did you fill in the exhaust exit in the valence if you're not installing side pipes?

I'm good with asking for directions, but your answer doesn't obligate me to follow. I wouldn't have guessed you were the type to follow the dark blue line on Google Maps 100/100 times.

In a way, this side conversation is a metaphor for this thread. You are seeking the straightest line from point A to B. What appears to be the most direct path may not be the most satisfying.

I'll go full dork on you and leave with this thought that popped in my head:

The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Just cut the "U" out of the valence with a fine-toothed blade or cutting wheel, put the bezel in place and point the exhaust tips in the direction of the admirers of that fine looking '68 ass end...as they should.

Fabrication needed to add lip so bezel can be attached I believe. Otherwise no way to attach bezel to the 1/4 or valance. It’s 🌙 shape on each.

When you need a break from wrench churning, your female crafty side kicks in.

Had every intention of tossing this compartment bin. Made of glorified cardboard (fiber board) and has a felt like coating that was dry rotted beyond repair.

Had a wild idea to use matte decoupage to “refinish” and steamed and squared up the bottom and lip and filled some bad spots.

🤪, yea, me!

I’m a map guru, one of the talents I’m proud of. Dad made sure I was a great shotgun and had me reading maps since I was 6 yrs old.

He would plot out some great adventures for us and traveled the entire US and Nova Scotia on his motorcycle.

I had to let him know how many more mile markers before our exit etc. Fun memories. Bet most people (young especially) have no idea how to read a map. If their navigation system goes out, they are screwed.

Dad always made travel with road maps for every state I would be traveling through. Sage advice

As a matter of fact, I made a lovely dinner. Spaghetti, homemade garlic bread (crispy fresh garlic on top) and a 5 lettuce salad picked fresh from my garden.

If hubs is lucky he’ll get a happy ending tin his massage later.

Ok, all of the above is true, except for the happy ending.

So do we, and living close to the beach means frequent washing. Too frequent.

The meal sounds delicious and at our age may be more satisfying than the happy ending.

Yea, well, it wasn't 'just because.' I only know of Frost post college when I learned to read for enjoyment. For some unknown reason my english credits were filled with English literature "Before Burns" (fall) and "After Burns" (spring). I failed Before Burns in my first semester, finished with 1.8 GPA (but got by with a D the second time around ), lost my scholarship, and if I didn't have a 2.3 by the spring, I would be expelled. Kiss that pre-med dream good-bye, lol. Chaucer, Spencer, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Canterbury Tales were a foreign language...except for the Miller's Tale. I actually understood that one. He climbed a ladder to kiss the girl of his dreams on the lips only to discover the 'lips' she offered were bearded...

FWIW, I finished graduate school with a 4.0.

Buy the period correct bezels, cut the semi circles and install the correct tips. It's easy, cheap and will look best. You won't regret it.

I wish it were that simple. There has to be fiberglass work to fabricate the lip to attach the bezel on both the quarter panel and the rear filler panel then that all has to be painted. Won’t be an easy or Inexpensive fix, unfortunately.

Got the passenger rear bumper on. Dear Lord! 4 hours! Ended up having to grind down part of the bracket corner. It was not fitting into the fiberglass so had to make modifications.
