Default Geezer Ball
A bunch of my fellow geezers here have loosely organized pick-up games, so I decided to join them.

My "baseball" experience, if you can call it that, is playing street stickball in the 'hood, using a cut-off hockey stick and a regulation* tennis ball. Some non-little league play (uniforms were too expensive). Some college intramurals.

I tossed my old ball glove years ago, so bought a new Miken glove. Under Armor cleats (they are awesome). An Eastwood aluminum slowpitch bat from Walmart. Nasty buzz from the handle that wasn't there before.

Third or 4th practice earlier today. Hitting a 12" ball with a 2-1/4" bat is far easier than stickball. My Eastwood bat seems to have gone from OK, to pretty damn good, to suck. Today I couldn't hit out of the infield.

So I picked up a composite bat from a teammate and whoa nellie. Consistent base hits. Got home and placed an order for a DeMarini mid-loaded.

*Old tennis ball, poke a hole in it with a knife point so it wouldn't bounce like crazy. We used the same ball for street hockey.
