Some do the misleading.

Some are misled.

If you don’t know which you are… you’re the 2nd one.

Here is a battery story.

Local woman bought a Tesla in 2013 to help save the planet.
Went thru a puddle car died.
Tesla charged her $18k for repairs, included a new battery.
Lady finds out she can get $10k for the bad battery or hers fixed for $2800.
Tesla won't return it to her.
With the help of a lawyer, she finds out that for warranty or service etc, Tesla gets to keep all the old parts.
Because of all the bad press, they have since made a non disclosure deal.

That's a good question. I looked for the answer but no official numbers. All that I know are 2 people with older Model S. One is a 2013 and the other one a 2014. Last time I talked to them, the 2014 had 185k miles and still got 90% of the original range and the 2013 had 175k and also got around 90% of the original range.

Most EVs in the US are Teslas which will affect statistics. I know that many of the original LEAF's batteries went bad due to lack of active cooling. Those cars that didn't have fast charging ability lasted longer.
Tesla batteries are extremely durable, especially those who are mostly charged at home at Level 2. I know of at least 1 Model X that was exclusively supercharged that was sold a few years ago with 400k miles on the original battery. That car was part of Tesloop which operated between Las Vegas and LA. A taxi driver in germany is on his 3rd battery and has 1.3 million miles on the car which means that he got quite a lot of miles on each battery.

It's usually not the satisfied customers who make the news. If you have a out of warranty battery issue, there are now several options of shops that can fix your battery for pennies on thr dollar. Going to Tesla for a out of warranty battery replacement is about as smart as going to BMW for a new engine on your 10 year old BMW.

You missed the point here.
Tesla owns any parts taken off your car, greatly negating any offset.

This woman believed her insurance would handle the battery initially.

When the "I know a guy" arguments have come up, I have referenced my coworker with a Model S Plaid that I have driven a few times.

This is the same car that has had multiple issues.

Last week another... yes ANOTHER motor failed, the 3rd one overall.

This was in the parking lot today.

The new Taycans (not sure if they're available yet), have a MUCH better range than the 1st gen and are REALLY nice to drive.

They have some potential as a commuter. I'm going to have to wait to see the "real" range before getting too excited about it.

I'm sure I'll catch a ride in that one soon enough.

Did you really go search for trucks stuck on the beach? What in the hell is wrong with you? Holy shit, man. It's not that serious. It's a car. Seriously, what is your emotional attachment to them? You defend them like it's someone insulting your family name. Your asinine need to come running to the defense of all things Tesla has gone well beyond absurd.

Pull your head out of Elon's ass long enough to laugh on occasion.

You post up that article like it's something unusual that a truck gets stuck in the sand at the beach. I'm just pointing out that it's not.

There are two beaches here you can drive on and park. We walk the beach a lot and have yet to see one truck stuck. Searching the internet for a couple of photos doesn’t mean it’s common.

But you already knew that.
