This is what my pool water looked like yesterday. That stuff floating on top is pollen. Really, really big pollen. It actually clogged both skimmer baskets. I pulled them and there were two inch thick mats of this stuff in them. In 26 years of pool ownership, this is a first. Not sure what kind of tree this stuff is coming from, but I can't remember it ever being this bad before.

Had that happen a few weeks ago. Had to empty skimmer twice a day and 2 backflushes a day. All good now, crystal clear. Pollen should pass ya 8n a week or so. Get the shock ready

I suggest that anyone who owns a pool should look into a salt water disinfection system. I have one in my new spa and it's been great.
