Why do you want the column in? It'll just be in your way and you'll need to drop it to get the left dash pad in. Brackets, fine, put them in. Check that the rag joint is correct for your shaft diameter/shape and the spline count, make sure the column's firewall gasket is in good condition, bolt threads are all clean and spin-on ready. All appropriate to do now.
Putting the column in is more complicated than bolting it up. You have to make sure the steering gear is centered (raise the front end) and the steering wheel is clocked to drive straight forward. This may involve rotating the rag joint a spline or twenty.
Hang the wire harness and duct work into position rather than supporting with the column.
